The science. The plant. The terpenes. The methods. Everything we wish someone had taught us when we started. Scroll, or jump:
Cannabis is a flowering plant. It produces resinous trichomes — sticky glandular structures — packed with cannabinoids and terpenes. Humans have cultivated it for fiber, food, ritual, and medicine for at least 12,000 years. Your endocannabinoid system, discovered in the 1990s, is the reason your body responds to it in the first place.
The primary psychoactive cannabinoid. Produces euphoria, appetite, altered perception, sometimes anxiety in high doses.
Non-intoxicating. Modulates THC's effects. Used for anxiety, inflammation, seizures. Won't get you high.
Mildly psychoactive. Forms as THC ages. Associated with sedation and sleep. Found in older/cured flower.
"Mother cannabinoid" — precursor to most others. Non-intoxicating. Researched for focus and anti-inflammation.
Your body produces its own cannabinoids — molecules called endocannabinoids. They bind to CB1 receptors (concentrated in the brain) and CB2 receptors (concentrated in the immune system and peripheral tissues).
Cannabis cannabinoids work because they mimic these molecules. THC fits CB1 like a key in a lock. CBD doesn't bind directly — it modulates signaling. This is why effects vary so much between people: your endocannabinoid baseline is unique.
Classic shorthand for "what kind of high you'll get." A starting point, not the whole picture — terpenes matter as much as classification. Same strain hits different people differently.
Terpenes are aromatic molecules that give cannabis its smell, flavor, and a big chunk of its effect. They work synergistically with cannabinoids — the "entourage effect." Click any slice below to learn its role.
The most abundant terpene in cannabis. Sedating, muscle-relaxing, and the reason indicas feel like indicas. Also found in mangoes, hops, and lemongrass.
Each method has a different onset, duration, and feel. Choose based on speed, discretion, and what your body knows.
Flower in a pipe, bong, or pre-roll. Traditional. Combusts the plant — fast onset, full terpene profile, harsher on the lungs.
Carts, disposables, dry herb. Heats below combustion, preserves terpenes, cleaner than smoke. Strain-specific live resin is the gold standard.
Gummies, chocolates, beverages. Slow onset, long duration, much stronger feel — your liver metabolizes THC into a more potent form.
Sublingual drops under the tongue. Hold 60 seconds before swallowing for fast absorption. Precise dosing, discreet, no smoke.
Balms, salves, lotions infused with cannabinoids. Localized relief — joints, sore muscles, skin conditions. Won't get you high.
Dabs, infused joints, rosin. Highly potent extracts — small amounts go a long way. For experienced casters who want full-spectrum impact.
Most cannabis emergencies are dosing emergencies. Edibles are sneaky — onset is slow, peak is delayed, and overshooting is easy. Here's the map.
Subtle relief. Functional. Most people won't feel "high," but body and mind settle. Good baseline for first-timers and tolerance breaks.
Mild euphoria. Most people feel it. Considered the "1 drink" equivalent. Good for social settings and creative work.
Standard Michigan retail single-serve. Reliable high. Most regular users land here. Not for first-timers — start lower.
Experienced users only. Strong body high, possible sedation. Stack with caution. Don't drive. Don't operate the cauldron.
Wait at least 2 hours before redosing. The most common mistake is taking more because "it didn't work yet." It will. Be patient.
Indoor. Hydroponic. Pesticide-free. Four miles from this storefront. Here's the process behind every jar of house flower on our shelves.
Note: our cultivation is on a temporary pause while we rebuild it — reopening early fall. This is the method we used for the flower you can still buy today, and the one we're bringing back.
Clones from our mother room. 18 hours of light per day. Aggressive vegetative growth. Plants build the structure that will eventually carry flower weight.
12/12 light cycle. Plants stop stretching and start producing buds. Trichome development. Nutrient ratio shifts toward phosphorus and potassium. Defoliation as needed.
Harvest, hang, dry slow at 60°F and 60% humidity. Then jar. Burp daily for two weeks. Cure for 30–60 days minimum. Flavor doubles in the jar.
Cannabis is legal in Michigan for adults 21+. Legal doesn't mean consequence-free. Read this once, internalize it forever.
Never been to a dispensary? It's easier than a deli counter, and nobody quizzes you. Here's exactly how it goes from parking lot to parking lot.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID showing you're 21+. Driver's license, state ID, or passport all work — from any state, not just Michigan. No ID, no entry; it's the law, no exceptions.
A staff member scans your ID at the entrance. Your information isn't stored in any government registry — the scan just verifies the ID is real and you're of age.
Wander the floor at your own pace, or grab a budtender and tell them what you want to feel — relaxed, social, focused, sleepy. That one sentence is all they need to start matching you.
Credit, debit, or cash (ATM on-site). Your products come in sealed, labeled packaging. Keep it sealed in the trunk on the drive home, and you're done. Five minutes, start to finish.
Cannabis carries fifty years of misinformation on its back. Here's what the counter conversations actually sound like — myth first, truth second.
Truth: THC percentage is one ingredient in a recipe. Terpenes and minor cannabinoids shape how the high actually feels — a 19% flower rich in myrcene can feel heavier than a 28% flower without it. Shopping by THC% alone is like choosing wine by alcohol content.
Truth: Decades of crossbreeding mean nearly everything on a modern shelf is a hybrid. The indica/sativa label is a useful starting shorthand — but the terpene profile is the real predictor. Ask your budtender what's in the strain, not just what family it claims.
Truth: Edibles take 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in because your liver has to convert the THC first. The classic mistake is redosing at the 45-minute mark and meeting both doses at once. Wait the full two hours. Every time. No exceptions.
Truth: Every product we sell is state-tested for pesticides, heavy metals, mold, and residual solvents, with results on the label. Unregulated product is tested by nobody. Beyond safety, you also know exactly what strain, potency, and dose you're getting.
Truth: CBD won't get you high, which is exactly the point. It modulates THC's intensity, and many customers use 1:1 ratios for relaxation without fog. Dismissing CBD because it isn't intoxicating is like dismissing decaf because it isn't espresso — different tool, different job.
